Treatment of an extremely hindered 1,3,5-triselena-2,4,6-tristibane derivative with excess amount of hexamethylphosphorous triamide in toluene at 130 °C resulted in the formation of the first stable selenadistibirane derivative as orange crystals. The molecular geometry of this novel heavy atom-containing three-membered ring system was definitively determined by X-ray structural analysis.
